VOICE shares its experience at the European knowledge valorisation event

VOICE Update

On 8 October 2026, VOICE was represented at “Knowledge Valorisation in Action: From Results to Policy”, organised by the European Research Executive Agency in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation.

Held at the Albert Borschette Centre in Brussels and online, the event brought together EU-funded projects, policymakers and knowledge-transfer professionals to discuss how research results can create impact in society, policy and the market.

VOICE partner Anita McKeown from Future Focus21c took part in the session “Testimonials from Knowledge Valorisation in Action”, presenting “Valorising knowledge for innovation by engaging the arts and cultural institutions.”

Later in the programme, Lizbeth Goodman from SMARTLAB@ UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN (UCD) contributed to the session “Bringing Research Results to Society” with a presentation on the same topic. The session explored how engagement tools, living labs, experimentation spaces and collaboration with arts and cultural institutions can support the uptake of research results.

The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on how knowledge valorisation can be embedded across society. Discussions addressed the importance of co-creation, meaningful engagement with citizens and communities, and recognising different forms of knowledge and expertise. The role of knowledge-transfer professionals and the contribution of research and innovation to Europe’s resilience and independence were also part of the wider conversation.

For VOICE, the event offered an important opportunity to share the project’s experience of artist-led collaboration and demonstrate how arts and cultural practices can contribute to innovation, inclusive participation and societal impact. It also opened new connections and opportunities for continued dialogue with policymakers and other organisations working in the field of knowledge valorisation.
