The final VOICE event at the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026

VOICE Update

The Horizon Europe project VOICE (Valorising Artist-Led Innovation Through Citizen Engagement) will host its final event, “The Power of Artist-Led Interventions for a Sustainable Europe,” as an official Satellite Event of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Festival 2026 in Brussels.

Taking place on 10 June 2026 at TRACK Brussels, the event will bring together policymakers, artists, researchers, and community representatives to explore how creative, community-driven approaches can contribute to Europe’s sustainability and policy priorities.

From community practice to policy impact

Over the past years, VOICE has supported twenty Art–Technology–Society Interaction (ATSI) initiatives working hands-on with communities across Europe. From restoring local ecosystems to rethinking relationships with more-than-human environments, these projects have tackled challenges such as biodiversity loss, water systems, soil health, and air quality.

What sets them apart is their approach. Rather than applying one-size-fits-all solutions, these initiatives are deeply embedded in local contexts—drawing on community knowledge, lived experience, and artistic experimentation to generate new ways of understanding and addressing environmental issues.

“What we see across VOICE is that artists are not just raising awareness, they are actively shaping how communities understand and respond to environmental challenges,” says Marta Coto, the VOICE project coordinator. “These practices offer valuable insights for policy, precisely because they come from real places, real people, and real ecosystems.”

The Brussels event will translate these experiences into policy-relevant insights, demonstrating how artist-led interventions can contribute to more inclusive, responsive, and place-based policymaking.

Contributing to the New European Bauhaus vision

As part of the NEB Festival 2026, the VOICE event aligns with a broader European movement that brings together creativity, sustainability, and citizen engagement. The Festival, organised by the European Commission, serves as a platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing innovative projects, and exploring how communities can actively shape a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Satellite events like VOICE play a key role in extending this dialogue, connecting local initiatives with European-level discussions and amplifying diverse voices across the continent.

Join the conversation

The event is open to stakeholders working across policy, sustainability, culture, and innovation, including public authorities, researchers, cultural organisations, NGOs, and community actors.

By bringing together diverse perspectives and practices, VOICE: The Power of Artist-Led Interventions for a Sustainable Europe offers a unique opportunity to reflect on how communities across Europe are already leading the transition toward more sustainable futures and how these approaches can inform the policies of tomorrow.
